Django Unchained (18) seen@ London O2 Cineworld
This film is set two years before the civil war and it is about a character called Django and he is rescued by Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) a German bounty hunter who is trying to find the brittle brothers and Django's wife from the notorious Calvin Candie an owner of the 4th biggest cotton plantain.
I found this film quite enjoyable and some parts funny, especially Dr. King Schultz who tricks a group of KKK. I also found Samuel L Jackson's dialogue funny when he was sucking up to Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).
On the other hand, there were some parts of this movie I found quite disturbing. A black slave was eaten by dogs and two black slaves were forced to kill each other. I did not enjoy the brutality of how the white Americans treated black people in this film.
The director (Quentin Tarantino) has shot this film in western kind of film just like a Clint Eastwood movie; He is also paying Homage to Sergio Corbucci's film Django (1966). At the time of release, Django was considered the most violent film ever made.
The characters:
Jamie Foxx...Django
Christoph Waltz...Dr. King Schultz
Leonardo DiCaprio...Calvin Candie
Kerry Washington...Broomhilda von Schaft
Samuel L. Jackson...Stephen
Walton Goggins...Billy Crash
Dennis Christopher...Leonide Moguy
James Remar...Butch Pooch / Ace Speck
David Steen...Mr. Stonesipher

Lincoln (12A) seen @ Cineworld London O2
The film is about Abraham Lincoln's last days of office as he tries convince politicians to pass the 13th Amendment passing a law to ban slavery There is a lot of hostility towards the idea of slavery abolishment. The Confederates, who are against this bill, start to wage war on the Union to try and keep slavery.
This film was made to a high standard. I like the politicians when they argue because it is humorous as it creates power in the scenes. I also enjoy it when the generals of southern states come to the Union army HQ , they see a lot of black people to their shock and horror.
I like when Daniel Day Lewis talks in the American accent and if I was from the 1800’s and came to future I would think it was a rebirth of the president. I found that Tommy lee Jones' character would make a great politician because of his great charisma.
I found that there was too much talking and not many war scenes also, I found the the confederates behaved like bullies in the court room. The length of the film was a bit long .
The actor Daniel Day Lewis was very charismatic as Lincoln; whilst Tommy Lee Jones' character was very forceful and got the point across.I felt that all of the actors in this film were very believable as they played their parts very well. The Film had a slight dark tint because the visuals and colouring. Steven Spielberg made the war scene very intense and bloody.
